Why Being Age Friendly is Everyone’s Business
The UN calls population aging “a phenomenon without precedent in the history of mankind”. The Asia Pacific region includes countries with ageing populations that are the oldest (Japan), the largest (China) and the fastest aging in the world, yet business and society seems slow to respond. Kim shares thoughts that demonstrate our need to create a world that is ‘age-friendly’; where the unique physical needs of older people are satisfied in a way that is natural and beneficial for all ages.
Kim’s interest in the global ageing phenomenon began one day when he looked in the mirror and was shocked to see a 50-year-old man staring back at him. With a 30-year background in advertising and a few entrepreneurial starts to his credit, he founded SILVER, a consultancy helping businesses and governments understand the impact of ageing populations. His opinions on this subject are much sought after and he has appeared repeatedly on CNBC, Bloomberg and Channel News Asia. He is currently co-writing a book in this subject.
